Can you spare £1 a week to help support struggling residents of Derby?
Derby Food 4 Thought Alliance is looking for 1,000 people to donate £1 (a squid) a week, for the next 52 weeks, to raise essential funds so our foodbanks are able to cope with the increased demand caused by the rising cost of living.
For the last financial year, from April 2023 to March 2024 we provided communities with 18,548 food parcels across all 14 partner projects. We supported 23,380 adults and 13,020 Children.
Over the last few months we have seen an increase in food parcel requests. At the same time we have seen a big drop in donations. When talking to our customers, the main reason for this is due to the rising cost of living.

You can choose to:
- Select £4.35 and tick 'Make this a monthly donation' (£52 doesn't divide neatly into a monthly amount! So the total over 52 weeks will be £52.20)
- Donate the full 52 weeks at once with a one-off donation of £52
- Go halves and give £26
- Select 'other' to give an amount of your choice.

Gift Aid is a tax relief scheme, which allows UK charities to reclaim an extra 25% in tax on every eligible donation made by a UK taxpayer. This means that for every £1 you donate to a charity, this becomes £1.25.
