Help Us Prepare Food Support for Families This Christmas 

As we approach Christmas, Derby Food 4 Thought Alliance (DF4TA) is preparing for one of our busiest times of the year. We’re looking for a team of 8–10 corporate volunteers to join us at our Resource Centre to help prepare food parcels for local families and ensure we have emergency food support available throughout the festive period. 

This is a fantastic opportunity for businesses to come together, get hands-on and make a direct difference to families experiencing financial hardship across Derby. 

What Will You Be Doing? 

Our volunteers will help us with two important tasks: 

Preparing Family Food Parcels 

We will be preparing more than 30 family food parcels for families supported by our partners at Derby County Community Trust. Volunteers will help select, organise and pack food items into parcels, ready for distribution to the families they work with. 

Preparing Emergency Food Stock 

Christmas can be an especially difficult time for people experiencing financial hardship. With many food support organisations and community partners closing over the festive period, it is important that we have emergency food parcels ready to help respond to urgent requests. 

Volunteers will help us prepare and organise additional emergency food stock so that we are better equipped to support people who need help over Christmas. 

Tasks will include: 

• Selecting and organising food items for each parcel 
• Packing family food parcels ready for collection and distribution 
• Checking parcels to ensure they contain the required items 
• Preparing additional emergency food parcels 
• Organising completed parcels and stock within our Resource Centre

Your time will help us prepare for the festive season, when demand for food support remains high and access to other services may be limited. 

Volunteer Session Details 

Venue: Derby Food 4 Thought Alliance Resource Centre 
Dates: 17th and 18th December 2026 
Time: 10:00am–4:00pm 
Team size: 8–10 volunteers 
Commitment: One day or a session to be agreed, subject to availability.
