Reverse Advent Calendar

The Reverse Advent Calendar s back for the 4th year in partnership with Derby County Community Trust.

Our Reverse Advent Calendar is a fantastic way for businesses to get involved and make a difference in the run-up to Christmas. This year’s campaign will run from 7th November – 1st December 2025, covering 25 days of giving.

Instead of receiving an item each day, we ask people to donate an item a day — creating a collective “advent calendar of kindness.” It’s an easy and engaging activity for offices, workplaces, and customers to take part in, as the donations can be shared across a team — not everyone has to donate every day.

We provide a Reverse Advent Calendar pack to help guide donations, and we also post daily reminders on our social media throughout the campaign to keep everyone inspired and involved.

How Businesses Can Get Involved

  • Encourage staff and customers to bring in items across the 25 days
  • Collect donations at your workplace
  • Use our pack and social media posts to help raise awareness
  • Drop off items at our central donation point, at Derby County’s Harrisons Hub  with Derby County Community Trust, who are proud partners of this campaign

Why It Matters

The items donated through the Reverse Advent Calendar help us to:

  • Provide Christmas food parcels for families in need
  • Stock our shelves for January, when demand is high but donations often drop sharply
  • Ensure local families have support during one of the hardest times of the year

We also run seasonal collection events throughout the year — at Christmas, Easter, during the summer holidays, and again in the difficult months of January–March. This helps us meet the peaks in demand while working alongside other local organisations to avoid duplication and maximise impact.

Join Local Businesses Taking Part in This Year’s Reverse Advent Calendar!

Our Reverse Advent Calendar 2025 is now underway — and we’re thrilled to see so many incredible organisations joining together to make a difference this festive season.

This simple but powerful initiative encourages workplaces, teams, and community groups to give back by collecting one essential item each day to support local people facing food insecurity. It’s a meaningful way to unite colleagues, boost team spirit, and show kindness in action.

This year, we’re proud to be joined by an amazing network of local partners and supporters, including:

  • Rolls-Royce
  • Rolls-Royce Learning and Development Centre
  • Alstom
  • Derby City Council – Adult Social Care Team
  • Derby Theatre
  • Mortgage Advice Bureau
  • Derbyshire Police
  • Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service
  • Greater Derby PCN Social Prescribers
  • Sort Refer
  • Derbyshire Leaving Care Service
  • Woodlands School
  • St Benedict’s School
  • …and many more local businesses, schools, and community and faith groups who have stepped up to support this year’s campaign.

Together, we’re creating a ripple of kindness across Derby — one item, one box, and one act of generosity at a time.

If your business or organisation would like to take part, it's not too late to join in we can tailor the dates to fit around your team.

Get in touch today to find out how you can get involved and help us make a lasting impact in our community.
