Volunteers’ Week – Celebrating Our Chellaston & Shelton Lock Community Hub Volunteers
Today we are shining a spotlight on the incredible volunteers who make our Chellaston & Shelton Lock Community Hub such a special place to be.
Week after week, this dedicated team goes above and beyond to provide a warm welcome, friendly faces, and vital support to local residents. Their commitment helps create a safe and welcoming space where people can come together, access support, and feel part of their community.
Thanks to their hard work, we are able to provide a free community lunch every Tuesday and a free breakfast every Thursday, alongside our Community Shop, helping local people access affordable food and support when they need it most ![]()

But what makes this team truly special is the kindness, compassion, and friendship they offer. Whether it’s serving meals, helping in the shop, setting up sessions, chatting with visitors, or simply being there to listen, they make a real difference to so many people’s lives.
The impact of their work extends far beyond food. They help tackle isolation, build connections, strengthen the local community, and ensure everyone who walks through the door feels welcome.
To our amazing Chellaston & Shelton Lock volunteers – thank you for your dedication, your generosity, and the countless hours you give to support others. We are incredibly grateful for everything you do and proud to have you as part of the Food 4 Thought family.
