Great News for Families in Derby

From the start of the 2026 school year, families across Derby will receive a welcome boost.

All school-age children in families receiving Universal Credit will be eligible for free school meals — offering a saving of up to £500 a year per child.

This is a huge step forward in supporting families who are struggling with the rising cost of living and ensuring children have access to nutritious meals during the school day.
